Gold badge cars

I was just wondering what, if any, significance the badge colour had, or was it simply a customer choice when being ordered?

I thought I saw talk on here in the past about such cars being different in some way with the gold badges, but I wasn't paying enough attention.

Any thoughts?

It was a straight forward add-on option.
My original bill of sale isn't handy at the moment, but I believe it was priced around £250 (late '90s).
And, yeah, my car is 'special' for sure

Bloody hell, the person who originally specced mine must have had more money than sense: it's got gold badges and air-con (which I believe was also eye-wateringly expensive - did I read somewhere it was nearly £2k?).

It was like that.
And yeah, the aircon option was a crazy price too, but mine didn't have it.
Power steering was an option until '99/00 I think.
Full leather was an extra £1k.
Many of the paint finishes, like my Rosso Pearl were about £1k extra as well.
You would easily add 2-5k on the base price.
The best deal was probably the heated seats; under £300.
£3850 base price for a 500, with £5k of that being the extra litre of engine.
Not hard to see why so many more 400s were sold is it?

Not really different to BMW and Mercedes when specing a new car from the base model.

And no, there was no real gold in those badges at all


Someone here must have an original price guide. I think I do somewhere, but can't lay my hands on it.
