Lowering air pressure for a better run flat rid
Discussion
Try taking 2-3psi out and see how the car feels. For prolonged high-speed running, you're probably best using the recommended pressures to avoid excessive drag and heat build-up in the tyres, but the rest of the time it should be fine. You will usually notice an improvement in ride over harsh surfaces, potholes and small irregularities but it's not likely to help it much over speed bumps, big compressions etc.
I usually play around with pressures a bit to see what feels best, but tend to stay within 10% of the original spec. It's no use saying "the manufacturer knows best" because you don't know what they set their pressures for - all too often these days, recommended pressures are unreasonably high to improve coastdown testing and therefore give better NEDC fuel economy/CO2 figures. Plenty of modern cars become much nicer to drive with a small drop in pressure, and it wouldn't surprise me if the F30 is one of them!
What tyre size and engine/drivetrain is it? 38psi seems like quite a bit.
