Afternoon all,

After selling my 2013 135i 3 months ago my wife and I have been making do with just the one car a 2014 116d which we own.

We are both lucky to have good jobs at which we work very hard. We are not extravagant living a very safe lifestyle, have a nice house and live comfortably.

I have always bought cars outright to this point and been lucky with depreciation not costing to much.

I am thinking more and more about leasing the next car, the money will stay in the bank should I need it for anything and an example cost for say a Golf R seemed to come in at approx £6k total for 24 months which is more than affordable as we save £1500+ a month. Money sat in account earning 2.4% net. I wouldn't want to spend over 6k over the 2 years.

Now what do we spend £27k on a 6/12 month old car or go down the lease and fix it for a couple of years. We are both nearly 27 and kids will be on the cards soon.

So to lease or to buy?! Who knows, as I am split right down the middle at the moment!

Would really appreciate your help on this one family!

Thank you

B'stard Child

If it depreciates hire it
If it appreciates buy it

I don't follow that rules for cars but It makes sense to me
