Sorry about the picture quality, I was passing him on the left at 180mph and holding the camera with my gammy hand...smile

I had a box fitted for a year or so. Insurance was cheap but i hated it. People tend to do 5-10 over the speed limit anyway, so I was constantly holding people up causing them to over/undertake, albeit not at 180mph wink

That's their tough luck, and not your problem.

When I go to comparison websites they always work out amongst my most expensive quotes. But then, my insurance is cheap enough that it couldn't possibly save me much.

If he was impeding the progress of road users who wanted to travel faster, he should have stayed to the left and let them pass, whether their speed was legal or not. So yeah, it is their problem, doesn't mean he couldn't have helped though.

It's precisely this kind of attitude that goes hand in hand with winding people up hehe

A young lass in my close has recently passed her test and has an a4 sheet in her rear window saying "black box fitted"

On on level it makes me chuckle, on another it really screws up her reversing - took her 5 attempts the other week to get the car on the drive.

I always think anything like this and green L plates just invite people to play silly beggars around you.

So how much does it cost you extra to drive badly compared with boringly, with one of these boxes fitted?

Supposedly it can/could get your insurance cancelled, which will cause you a whole world of pain.

I'm not sure, but I've just done a quote with Admiral with and without tracker. They want £25 more for the year with the box. Sounds great - £25 for the privilege of restriction.

Amazingly, they're not meant for V8-driving PHers, they're meant for very young/new drivers.. My OH's brother is 18 and try as I did to get him reasonable insurance without a box, I couldn't get within £200 of the tracked policies which just wasn't worth it for him in his 1.2 Corsa. I was surprised, being generally very good at finding the cheapest possible insurance.

Times have changed even in the six years since I started driving.

Struggling to see how having "ride on time" on the stereo slows you down?

Im 17, had my black box for almost 9 months and it is the worst, scores me on Acceleration, Braking, Speed and Cornering..

I have had increases to my policy, and will definitely not be getting a black box next year with a Zetec S..

One way to stop your black box from working is by draining your battery and then using spark plugs, which I done accidentally without knowing the black box would stop working, insurance company rang me a month later to tell me that it hasn't been working.
