What temperature does your car get upto these cold winter days?

I only ask because mine seems to be a little low. It's been struggling to get above 50 recently. I even took it out for a couple of hours down the lanes yesterday. It wasn't until I stopped that the temperature rose above 80 then when I started moving it dropped again. It's one of those things I always looked at it but never really thought about it. So I only have a vauge recollection of how it used to behave. It used to take 15-20 minutes to get hot but then stayed hot as I remember it.

I've been to my OPC who said it was nothing to worry about - which wasn't really what I asked. Can someone check this weekend? How hot does yours get? How long does it take? What does it go down to when driving?

Thanks, in advance, Steve, 996TT

That's pretty much what I remembered, I'll have to take it somewhere else this weekend. The OPC at solihull said it was cos I had the air-con on in the cold weather. I thought I could smell garage-bull in there somewhere.

Air-cooled cars have a oil stat which opens and closes to keep the oil "warm" - i would imagine your car does too (even the watercoolers carry loads of oil).

Take it to an indie, at least they tend to know their arses from their elbows.

VS

edit -> p.s. if it's coolant temp, apologies, as someone has already said your coolant stat is stuck open.

mine runs just over the 80 - just off the upper edge of the "0" in "80"
