Hi All,

So I am toying with getting my 993 back on the road. It's been garaged for the last few years.

So here's a list of things that need to be done, need come rough costs chaps...

1. Steering rack was leaking so will need that to be addressed.
2. Think that drivers side outside door handle is not working correctly.
3. Drivers side electric window is not working correctly.
3. Oil Leaks.
4. May need a new clutch.
5. General Service.
6. Think that the rear windscreen wiper was draining the battery.

Any offers of advice greatly received. Do we see this being below £3,000?

Want to park the 996T up for a while as it got vandalised.

Cheers

Sunil

PS I see that 993s are really starting to fetch good money!

Purely from a specialist POV, if the car has been parked up for a while, try and lift up the outer windscreen 'cover' trims (front and rear) to check for any corrosion in the recess.

Mine had a new rack by Paragon in 2009. £650 + £340 labour + VAT. A known problem. Add in £2k for a big service with a few things like lower cam covers and your door and window issues and you'd get the car in reasonable nick. Don't know about clutch - maybe another £1000? What colour/spec/miles is it? Market has definitely gone up, but cognoscenti still a bit picky. A/C, hardback seats and non-confrontational interior plusses.

Hi,

It's in a picture on my profile. Blue with blue leather interior, got 110,000 miles on the clock. It a C4, good history was looked after by JZM. Got their full suspension and chip, Hayward & Scott rear boxes. Actually the previous owner bought it from Paragon.

Cheers

Looks good. JZM are near me - best suggestion is to get it round there. I hesitate to venture a value of around and about £30k on a good day? Might be shot down...

If you want it doing properly... I doubt it. You've got to factor in not only "Porsche Tax" but "Aircooled Tax" and by your username I'm guessing some London Loading too.

Oil leak repair 'could' end up being an engine out job, which then opens the doors to "while its out..." type spending.

Still it could be worse.. it could be a GT3 thats been laid up for a years in which case it'd need a £10K refresh biggrin
