'BMW RECALLS 38,000 MINIS OVER GEAR PROBLEM'

BMW is recalling 38,000 Minis because of a gear selection problem.

The recall will affect all Minis produced from July last year to May this year.

A BMW spokesman said: "There is just a chance that the gear selection mechanism can become slightly loosened so that drivers cannot change gear."

He added that there had only been "one or two examples" of this and there had been no accidents, damage or injuries.
