... but doesn't use any of them as a daily driver?

And how do you manage to keep the batteries on them topped up during the winter?

Reason I ask is because the battery in my MR2 has died twice already from lack of use and winter hasn't even started. Constantly having to jump start it is a bit annoying and can't be great for the car either.

I'm finding it quite hard to find the time to drive them, especially now that it's dark, cold and raining. Drive them too much and they'll need cleaning from dirt and salt, drive them too little and the battery runs out... Don't have access to electricity in the lock up garages so can't use a battery charger either frown

Not even a solar one? To be honest I'd fit an isolation switch onto them, that saves all the hassle. smile

Hmm will look into that... but would they play tricks with the car's computers?

Never thought about a solar charger! But I'm thinking they'd be quite easy to nick.

I have the same problem - 3 cars and none are a daily. Two do not have a battery isolater. Would be easyish to fit but the insurance company has some issues as the immobiliser will no longer work...

I have four cars.

The two sports cars live in the garage all winter on trickle chargers. Accumate ones. They work great and the cars start first time every time.

The Vectra and the Leaf live outside. I DO use the Leaf every day and charge it every night...so that's taken care of. I do need to remember to use the Vectra from time to time.

I have around 20 - frankly it's a pain in the arse.

Batteries are easy - disconnect the neg lead - stops most going flat - combined with a decent trickle charger and boost charger and jump pack there's no problem

However most get wet inside, if you don't sort it, they go mouldy.

Paint goes flat and lacquer lifts, mice eat wiring and seats etc

It really isn't all it's cracked up to be unless you have garaging for all of them

I have 9 cars, and don't use a daily driver, walk to work, battery isolation switch on all of them, fiat on the track cars and the ebay screw type on the road.

Four cars. Just never got around to trying to sell the Moggy and Scimitar so there they sit.

I walk to work so very bloody silly having four, but they just creep up on you.

Up to eight now (nine if you include a Fordson Dexta), all road legal. I luckily have garaging and power so use these

and haven't bought a battery for years. Much cheaper than other conditioners on the market yet do the same job.

Five:

One garage queen (only for the winter) - E39 M5

Two daily cars - E39 530d & Combo van, pretty even split of use by me.

Car the wife prefers driving - the boring Polo.

Skoda Fabia - the metaphorical runt of the fleet. Occasional use by visiting family.

Don't understand. Surely when the power is reconnected the immobiliser still needs to be disarmed? That's how it works on my cars anyway as they are often disconnected. The fleet is currently at 12, none of which is a daily driver as I cycle and train to work. Between Ctek battery chargers and disconnecting the neg lead/removing battery to go in another car I don't have any issues with them being too flat to start when needed.

We did have four (Eunos, 156 SW, MCS and VW T25) but never had a flat battery. I just ensured that I took them for a run every week or so, seemed to keep everything ticking over, including the battery. All were stored outside except for the Eunos.

This thread reminds me that I must take the T25 out this weekend coming! wink

5.

Qashqai is the Mrs. daily and e36 BMW ragtop is currently my daily, so batteries get a good work out.

Saab 9000 used to be my alternate daily but is up on axle stands at the moment awaiting TLC. Battery was fine 6 weeks ago...

Saab 900 normally lives in the garage and TVR under a cover outside, both normally on trickle chargers, but both are out and I am alternative one charger between both rolleyes

TBH this many cars is an utter, utter pain in the arse but as somebody said they creep up on you. Currently only 2 of my 4 are roadworthy and I don't want to drive the TVR in the crap conditions so if the BMW has an issue that I have no wheels! banghead

Think I need to sell some cars, want to get it down to 3 total including the Mrs'...

Do you put the solar panel inside or outside the car?
Could be just the solution I'm looking for if they work placed on the dash or somewhere.

- 5 -

Diesel Mercedes SLK as daily driver
BMW M3 (V8) convertible as sunshine toy
Ferrari 360 - garage queen - childhood dream
BMW X5 - to lug the family around in

I would love more if it wasn't for lack of room - and potential divorce if I even dared mention buying another car.
