Just seen linked into the wife's facebook that a Morris minor that looks in pretty good nick, is parked legally, is taxed and mot'd, I don't know how to check insurance, but has now been stickered up by Wiltshire council as an abandoned vehicle and will be moved in 7 days because of complaints from residents!

So which Salisbury based PH'er was it that complained about a fully legal vehicle!

How on Earth is that legal?

Surely if a car is (as that appears to be) road legal then it can be parked and left anywhere so long as the parking is fine etc..

I don't see what gives them the right if it is road legal, parked on the highway and has paid the relevant VED?

That's the one, I didn't know how I link from the Facebook without revealing people's details.

Seems bizarre, it doesn't even seem to be parked in a busy residential road, whoever reported that really needs to have a look at themselves!

I don't think you need to pay for VED on a car that age...

It still has to applied for and up until last month at least you still got a disc with a very satisfying £0.00 on it!

Old story, owner was found and has his car.

Can't figure out why they are allowed to seize and crush a perfectly legally parked car though

wtf is wrong with people? its not a wreak although I bet some would consider anything older than 10 years a wreak and should be crushed rolleyes

Apparently the daughter of the owner is looking after it.

Probably should have rephrased it, but it has the correct valid VED.

This.

Councils are useless when some git parks an untaxed & tested snotter in front of or on your drive, but can 'seize' licensed vehicles off the highway? Daren't go on a holiday!

Might wait for the neighbours to go away for a couple of weeks and report their cars as abandoned. Tidy up the street a little whistle
