On sunday morning I noticed quite a large dent at the front of my bonnet. It was'nt there when I parked the car on my drive at about 8.00pm on saturday evening.
I gave the car a clean on sunday afternoon and had a good look over it, I was a bit worried that somebody may have actually ran across the roof and bonnet but it's just a dent on the bonnet, it appears that somebody has actually sat on the bonnet. I've got a friend who does dent removal having a look tomorrow so fingers crossed he can at least reduce it a bit.
My reason for the post was because I was thinking to myself what would I have done if I'd actually seen whoever was responsible sitting on the car? I thought well I could have just shouted at them from the house or I could have gone out and grabbed them and then tried to call the police. I think that opens up a huge can of worms, a fight might start, the police may never actually turn up etc.
What would you guy's have done? I think I would have just shouted if I had have seen them as they probably would'nt be on their own

An interesting question this....and one that maybe would procure a raft of different answers, depending upon the people and circumstances involved?
For example.
A few years ago, I came out of my house one day to go to work - and as I walked up to my car, I saw a MASSIVE dent in the rear quarter panel, facing the road. There were no notes with insurance details, or apologies affixed to my car. It was such a huge dent though, that there's NO WAY that whoever did it, didn't notice that they had done it.
So....they smacked my car, and then just drove off. Lets say that, if at the time I had seen them do it....then yes, I would have run at them, stopped their car, and considered fistycuffs if they'd tried to palm me off!!!
These days, I have a position that involves regular Criminal Record checks....hence, anything new that comes up, especially involving violence or assault - would be viewed as a potential 'job loser...' so with that in mind, I let a lot of things go now. Rightly or wrongly.
So imagine my mental dilemma when a few months ago, I was awoken by the sound of what can only be described as 'drunk t
ts' heading home from a night out on the town. They woke me up enough with all their noise, that I got out of bed and looked out of the window....
...Just in time to see one of them decide it would be a great idea to climb up the back of my car, and run right over it, finally jumping off the front, after doing a bit of a dance on the roof!
Him and all his mates thought that this was hilarious....and even by the dim light of the streetlamps, I could see that he'd dented my car's roof. However, they quickly buggered off, before I could really get any meaningful description of their appearance or clothing had I decided to go to the Police. BUT I could well have left my house, caught up with them, identified the vandal, and given him a proper kicking.
But if I had? It could have easily bounced back on me - they could have also called the Police, sent an officer round my house....and I could have been up on an assault, GBH, ABH, or whatever charge....which would possibly result in my dismissal from work.
So.....annoyingly.....due to my job, I had to stand idly by, and watch a vandal damage my car, and let it go and live with it....and get it fixed at my own expense.
Life. It is not fair at times.
