In another thread it is implied that no one gets offered a speed awareness course for 34 in a 30

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Why is this claimed?

I ask, as around 2000/2001 I most definitely got done from a mobile camera for a 34 in a 30 by Lancashire constabulary just off the m65 in Brierfield and was offered points or a speed awareness course. I opted to take the points. The strangest thing about this was, and my memory is hazy here, but approximately 2 or 3 years later I got a strange letter through the door from Lancashire constabulary indicating that all convictions in the last 12 or 18 months for 34 in a 30 were being quashed and fines returned, however, as my offence was outside of the "backdating", the points still stood.

I don't think I cared too much, because if I remember, there were only a few months left before my licence was clean again, but I remember feeling a bit of unjustice about it at the time because I drove an old mk2 Golf and the speedo needle was difficult to determine the speed to within 4mph! Bizarre but most definately true.

I'm afraid all you are is just another "I got a ticket for 34 in a 30". I'm yet to see anyone actually prove that they were caught and ticketed/fined/offered a speed awareness course for anything less than 35.
I'm sure you've got no reason to lie - I personally don't know you from Adam. But you're talking about something that happened 13 years ago, so I'm guessing you don't have any paperwork from that time.

So as of right now I still don't believe anyone has actually been ticketed for less than 35mph in a 30 - but as always, willing to be proved wrong.

Yep, unfortunately paperwork is long dusted. You'll have to believe me; its definately true. I wonder if the Burnley Express archives have anything on the letter I received.......off to search.

Thanks Bigends, looks like a political mine field, but the references in the guidelines linked all state 35 for a Speed Awareness.
