I'm looking to get a cheap compact estate to replace my current daily. Default choices are of course C class estate, 3 series touring or A4 avant (x type estate sort of sneaks in there too but not really). I was mulling over what alternatives there might be other than the obvious, and just then walked past a 9-3 estate.

What's the thoughts around buying one of these now that Saab are long since gone. Prices seem pretty keen and there are a good range of engines out there - the 2.0t looking like probably the best choice for what I'm looking for.

Does anyone have personal experience with keeping a Saab on the road these days. I'm thinking mostly in terms of general reliability and parts availability. A lot of the non shines stuff is GM / Vectra isn't it, or was that the 9-5?

Damn iphone. Title should've read "How mad would I BE to buy a Saab these days". If any kindly mods could go right ahead and update the title so I don't look like such and idiot that'd be just great.

Not mad at all. Especially the 9-3. Decent cars, and spares are available. Make sure the price is right though.
