Hi Moriarty.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I work as a manufacturing consultant and have nothing at all to do with Bamford Rose, except that I have had my car serviced with them for three years now and have nothing but praise for their professionalism. I really do hope that we can focus on the work that is to be carried out on the car and not on the misplaced suspicions that people may have. If you are not convinced, I am happy to provide you with my mobile number so you can establish for yourself whether you believe me. If not, I suggest we meet at the Reichenback Falls to settle this once and for all.
Regards,
S.H

Hi, my name is Meerkat and welcome to my Quantum.

My 1987 Quantum Coupe, 55 ish horsepower, is currently being cared for by 'Council Lockup Near the Allotments' - Currently I'm on their Zero Input Labour package. This is fantastic in that I know all work is done to the highest possible standards. In fact each and every step is experienced first hand because, erm, I do it myself.

I've also opted for their Self Source Parts option. Again I'm 100% in charge of quality control and sourcing. Only I know what gets fitted to such an exquisite sports car because, errrm, I buy all of the stuff. Usually from the spares place up the road.

Under the auspices of 'Council Lockup' I've arranged for a new water pump to be fitted at the cost of £15.

Additionally I've sourced a genuine Ford Motorcraft OEM water pump gasket for £1.75.

They've also got a brand new thermostat and housing gasket ready to go on, costing not very much at all.

I'm so pleased with 'Council Lockup' that I've left the car in their capable hands for the past couple of weeks. She's going to stay there too for the foreseeable. Like, it's cold, the battery has gone flat, I need to do Christmas shopping etc.

When the time is right I've got some choice upgrades planned! Such as fitting a stereo, fixing the bonnet hinges and maybe oiling the door handles.

Anyway I don't work for them, no not at all, I'm an administrator in an office.

Bamford Rose have their own thread in the Aston Martin section of the forum:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...

So if you repost in this forum you'll reach a number of Aston owners who don't frequent this part of Pistonheads.

There's a BR sponsored thread in the Aston Martin area of PH. There you can discuss all things BR, but don't be surprised to be presented with differing opinions of service and/or contact.

This it a little too weird.

Didn't BR go through some business trouble recently?

This could have some entertainment value. Can't be bothered to count but I'm sure Vanquish is mentioned more times than Bamford Rose so maybe the OP works for Aston Martin? hehe

Or he just really wants us to know what car he has.

It does have the whiff of one of those magazine articles that look to all intents and purposes 'normal' but has a small header at the top stating 'Advertising Promotion'.

Accompanied with cheesy photo library shots of a bloke, cheesy smile, car keys in hand...

Anyway, some what impressive NA increases with the modifications, but if we're going to talk figures, lets talk about cost? Well into 5 figures I'd imagine, to move the power further up the power band and I imagine make a slightly worse day to day car AND fit bits that you could just have gotten from a S. At this sort of level, modifying isn't really worth it, is it? You literally sound like you'd be far better off with a S to start with.

Dear Ben,

thanks for your input. I'm Robin and I would like to share some information on my Vauxhall with you.

Over the next few weeks (probably not because I can't be arsed and I'm busy), I'm considering replacing the gaiter around the gearlever as it has started to fray. The car probably has around 70bhp.
I considered entrusting this job to the garage on the corner, but then I thought that I should do it myself. I estimate the cost to be around £10.

It is probably one of the best 2006 Vauxhall Corsas around as most of them are missing the same trim pieces that mine is and the optional leather seats typically look marginally rattier than mine. It has also had the coveted Pioneer head unit upgrade (which I also did myself at a cost of around £150).

All the best,

Robin

I thought that then I absorbed the 'Sherlock Holmes' references, turns out he reads books. Must be real then, apologies for my original suspicions, can't possibly doubt a literary man...
