- naturally aspirated
- 0-60 sub 5, preferably sub 4.5
- 2 seaters are fine
- NOT a garage queen
- usable
- manual
- not horrific depreciation
- kit wise a minimum of AC, will be used all round
- doesn't need to be garaged
- £20-£40k, not averse to less
- the MOST important thing, must be an event to drive, so if it's something which is unlikely to be made again so much the better, hence NA V8 with a manual box below

Best I can come up with is an E92 M3, any other suggestions. Will be covering 3-5k per annum so fuel consumption is largely irrelevant, 20 is fine.

Cheers

Not sure whether v8 is an absolute requriement, but if not then a Nissan 370Z would seem to fit a lot of the list.

I love the "0-60 in sub 5, preferably 4.5" comment!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm probably wrong but my perception is that many of those TVR's/Lotuses would need to be garaged, I'd really like a 'turn key' car, i.e. little maintenance, this will be a semi daily driver.

Should've added no 911's. E46 M3 CS is one I've kept an eye out for, but manuals seem very thin on the ground, and when they appear it looks like E92's are a similar price.

Probably ridiculous really, I just fancy something which is faster than I've had! Of course it makes bu**er all difference in the real world!

This, The Aston V8 Vantage was designed to be the answer to this question and there are some lovely low mileage ones in the classified within your price bracket. So much more of an event than an old 2 door BMW 3 series smile

I had a pretty similar list of requirements and it had to work as a daily driver. I went for a Lotus Evora, a used naturally aspirated car comes in at £30-36k approx

My Evora lives outside and does 20k miles a year. Its mostly trouble free (some stuff was done under warranty), it doesn't leak, it even has back seats for dwarfs. If you want it to go faster you can easily increase the BHP by 15% just by bolting on a Radium or BOE cold air intake.

The handling and feeback are second to none, the satnav/phone is second to almost everything, but who cares much about the nav?

The problem I struggle with on this is that I looked into these a few years ago, various people I spoke to who had actually owned one were very underwhelmed by build quality issues, a lack of speed (relative) and that it wasn't a great drivers car - yes it looks & sounds great but that was it. A shame, as it's a lovely looking thing & would on paper fit the criteria.

I*m on my 5th TVR since 1997 and non have been garaged.
normally not covered but occasionally in the winter months I have used a half or full cover.
Last year I started using a Carcoon to give a little more protection for my 2006 Tuscan convertible.
I think this car easily answers all of your requirements including its value going from a purchase price of 24k in 2009 to mid 30'sK now.

Its a event every time you go out in a TVR.
My annual drives down to Spain are awesome.

Understood on the performance side, but build-quality side but the Aston will be on a par with TVR / Lotus on that respect. How about something Italian, V8, stunning, and reasonable quick..:-
