Morning all,

I wasn't sure where to put this so mods, feel free to move if required!

Anyway, around 12 months ago, the wife had an altercation with another vehicle, and as far as we were concerned the insurance companies has sorted it all out etc.

However, yesterday she received this letter in the post from the other parties insurer.

Do we need to pass this on to our insurer to deal with?

Had accidents before and have never had anything like this after the event.

Thanks for any help!

Yes. Call them up and ask the agent to ensure that the call is recorded and forward the letter to them whilst keeping a copy.

That looks very much like a standard letter from Direct Line Group which is sent to third parties when your insurer wont pay up.

You don't say much about the circumstances, however that is effectively a section 152 letter which basically gives the insurer a warning shot that if they don't sort it out, they'll take it to court.

It is essentially a scare tactic. They're trying to get you to panic, and tell your insurer to settle because you don't want to take it to court.

Ask your insurer to contact them, and tell them to ask them not to contact you.

I personally wouldn't contact a third party directly in any case, however different insurers work in different ways.

Also worth mentioning that it looks like they're claiming for outlay and not uninsured losses. This would mean its their drivers repairs and doesnt look like the excess is included.

Either your insurer isn't settling for some reason or they're getting confused.

Check with your insurer whether they have setted it and then get them to contact them. Unless you are disputing liability of course.
