Sony Action Cam AS100V vs Gopro 4 Black
Discussion
Hi all, I know there are gopro fans and gopro haters. Equally with the Sony I'm sure.
Apart from the obvious cost difference, is there that much difference between these 2 cameras? Mainly will be used for videoing the kids skiing and the odd F1 race, maybe some on board jet skiing too.
Thanks in advance!

Cheers, yes I saw the IS but from the comparison videos on youtube the Gopro does seem a better quality video? Also, comparing the specs, with the Gopro the 120fps at 1080p is far better than the 60pfs on the sony.
Also the IS only works at 120 degrees viewing and I think I prefer the 170 degree wide angle look.
There's not many comparison videos out there just yet by the look of it, but I might just try the gopro as residual 2nd hand values will be good as they're brand new out, so I can always sell it on if I'm not happy and really need the image stabilization.

Jesus, you're right about the image stabalization, why on earth doesn't the gopro have it , especially as it's supposed to be a sports bloody camera!???
However, the picture sharpness and quality is far superior on the gopro......it's a tough call. Is the IS worth the worse video quality and lower fps.......decisions decisions!
ETA - I've seen there are programs which can stabilize the video afterwards on a computer.........does anyone know of a decent program that doesn't cost the earth for a mac?

the argument has always been that the Gopro can shoot much higher resolutions so you can if you so wish, stabilise in post as long as your source footage isn't awful. Especially true with the 4black which does 4k30.
It'll depend on the mounting as well, you can get rid of a lot of your problems with decent mounting, realistically it'll be what you do with the camera that makes the difference, not which camera you buy...

I thought iMovie offered image stabilisation if you highlighted it between video clips.Edited by audi321 on Monday 24th November 21:24
