Are O2 totally useless???
Discussion
Grrrr,
I have had an O2 genie sim (bought off ebay after O2 stopped selling them in shops) which gives 300 texts and 300 mins wap for £10 per month.
I put the £10 on my phone at a set date each month, O2 give me the messages and WAP minutes, I use them till either they run out, or it gets to the anniversary date in the next month when I put £10 on again and O2 repeat the process.
My top-up date has always been the 29th of the month, so a few days back on the 28th, I put £10 onto the phone expecting it to be taken off automatically, however, come NYE I was still paying for messages at 10p a throw (I sent around 100 in the past week!!)
I rang O2 customer services yesterday and was told that my anniversary date had changed to the 5th of the month, so I now have to top-up another tenner before that date so that I can get my 300 texts for next month!!!
Does anyone else use a genie sim and have these same problems??
Also, is there a contract offering a lot of text messages within the monthly price because I use mainly texts, not calls hence why I was attracted to the genie sim.
Can anyone help??
Yours sincerely, disgruntaled O2 customer!!

I am no 02 expert, but if they change the date they are changing the contract.
I would have thought they have a duty of responsibility to let you know of that, epsecially as they have the opportunity to notify you by txt.
That sucks. See if you moan hard enough whether they will credi your tenner back, after all they will get it back again soon enough.

I'm on O2 genie. Always use the 300 texts up in about 3 weeks and try and make the rest of the credit last. Anniversary date changes every month as to when I can actually afford to top up again!!
Only prob I've just had is I've changed my phone. O2 sent me a text as to how to change MMS and wap over. Did all that and it still charges me for wap...grr!

I have an O2 pay monthly contract which gives me 500 texts and 50 mins cross network calls for £19 per month (Not too bad). Wished I'd never gone over to them though, as transferring my number was an absolute nightmare and only being able to deal with a "Customer Service" dept in India by email took me days and multiple emails beofre I got any sort of recognisable response and (sort of) apology. Can't wait for my contract to be up so I can move to another network.

o2 are awful! Boycott them now!
Just comming to the end of of my contract with O2 and all i can say is that i've never had a problem with them. Phone went wrong within 4 months, got on to them, new phone within 5 working days. Same with the billing. A few months ago when they were changing their systems over and no-one got any on line bills for a while, they charged me twice in the same month. It took 1 semi rant e-mail and they called me back to say sorry, the money was credited back to my account the same day. Am i the the only one out there who dosen't have a problem with them?
I went for 2 months without incoming calls on o2 - they managed to fix it in the end after me changing sim-cards twice, loosing all my numbers...
Then of course there is the whole "I'm sorry, we can't switch the really annoying notifications off as well, sometimes we can't", they managed fine on my last phone
I hate o2, I hate them with a passion. I despise their "customer support", I despise their attitude to things, I despise them! But as Lois says, who offers 300 texts and £10 of calls/media messages... for £10 a month? No contracts or PAYG even comes close
If they did, me and my number would move instantly.

If I have had problems, I've always emailed them for customer service, it doesn't cost anything, and the problems have always been solved. I doubt the other networks are problem free.
when a company charges £.50 a minute for CUSTOMER SERVICE - they can take my custom and stick it. that just beggars belief.
The anniversary date changes depending on when you last topped up, as soon as they give you the 300 free texts you've still got the 30 days or whatever it is to use them.
You might find some useful 0800 numbers for O2 here:

although the 50p/min cust svs rates for the on-line tarriffs are difficult to get around (unless anyone knows better
)
I had a nightmare with them when they messed up the port to my daughter's phone and left her dis-connected for her first week at uni. Of course they wouldn't talk to me & hid behind the Data Protection act. My daughter couldn't call because they'd disconnected her. I'm afraid I lost it big time with one of their managers.
More recently I moved my wife's phone from off-line to on-line tarrif. It took an hour on the phone but 0800 005005 worked - I just carried on working with my desk phone on speaker, mildly amused that it was costing O2 money to keep me hanging on.
My wife did have a billing problem with her new on-line account (was charged for MMS) but one email brought a swift correction.

you are clearly on a different (and better) tariff

time to go shopping methinks...
O2 customer service is appaling. Serves me right for not paying attention to bangladeshi lessons at school
£20 per month gets me 500 mins off peak talk time to landlines/O2, 50 mins to any number and 500 texts.
I think it's exceeedingly cheap. Ok, customer service sucks, but you only get what you pay for.

My work phone is 02 and totally useless... "hello, hello, can't hear you..." you get the idea
My workaround, just divert all incoming calls to my personal mobile, on Vodafone. I carry the other mobile around in my laptop bag and attempt to use it for outgoing calls when signal permits.
Saying that Vodafone over charged me by £430 last year, the only reason I noticed it was when my bill exceeded £170 and I decided to actually read my bills
Apparently the cheque is in the post, but can take upto 6 weeks to get through there accounts department.

After all that's been said about the uselessness of O2, I got a pleasant suprise.
I had £4 left on my phone when the "new" top up date came round today, but they still put on £10 worth of messages as they should have done on the 29th of last month!
Looks like customer service, for the 1st time ever on O2 is actually working!
