Couple of months ago I was very, very fortunate to drive what I consider to be one of my dream cars, a Ferrari 355. Had been waiting quite some time to drive one and was blown away by it, despite the fact that I have driven more expensive/faster/newer stuff - it still didn't disappoint.

I wonder if anyone else here has driven their dream car, or maybe now owns it, and how it lives up to their expectations?

Which 911 and did you like it?

I still haven't tried an Elise, come to think of it not sure I've ever driven a Lotus, which is a bit shameful!

My dream dream car, McLaren F1 and P1, no and not likely to, but I have had a go in a 12C, damn they are fast.

Realistic dream car Aston Martin V8 Vantage or Ferrari 550 Marrenello, again no, but I have had a go in a DB9.

I drove an Atom 300 not too long back, that's one ticked off the list.

Still holding out for a nice RS200 owner to let me a have a go.

Difficult for me as my dream car changes so often...... Or at least the list of dream cars increases....

I own my TVR which was once my dream car though.

Toss up between a Laferrari and a P1 so no and not likely to either. If you get the chance to drive your dream car then your dreams aren't big enough!

I sat in my dream car at 15 - a silver 550 Maranello, with Bordeaux interior. I am very lucky to say I bought such a spec of car this year, and it's been fabulous. Took it to Lake Como and Maranello this year, and it's a bit of a 'first-world problem' as they say, but haven driven across Europe at high speeds, it feels almost slightly wasted in this country - but that's for the thread on using powerful cars.

So yes, it has lived up to my expectations, so much so that I can often be found in the garage, just grinning at it biggrin

I bought a 1994 import WRX for £600, to date it is the most fun car I've driven on the road.

I've driven much more powerful metal (Db7 vantage,, XKR, Various alpinas including a B12 for a stint) and that car is the one I remember the most.

To be honest I've never driven Italian exotica but that impreza was =)

I've now owned two of my realistic childhood/teenage dream cars. (S2000 and now Impreza STI) And it's without doubt the best decision Ive made to the the plunge and do it. The Impreza especially.
I still need to go drive in a big power Skyline GTR, being in one as a passenger was awesome, but I need to be behind the wheel.

I have too many. But I did buy one of my dream cars, which I have loved since my first go in one when I was 12. On my 25th birthday I picked up my Caterham 7 R300 and love it. They say never drive your dream car buying my case I still think it's awesome 2 years on.

I've only ever really wanted a Range Rover or Jaguar XJR. Not ambitious, but I've driven both (and have one of the two), and I'm perfectly happy with it!

Well, sort of.... When I was very young (between 8-10 at a guess so could barely reach the steering wheel) I sort of steered a 205 T16 evo2 on to the Peugeot stand at the Birmingham Motor Show (mid 80's at a guess). I was being pushed at walking pace by a few big blokes and my Dad was really steering but I felt like I was on a stage of the Lombard RAC rally in my head making the brrmmm brrmm noises and screeches.

So want:

No and nor am I ever likely to. I have two choices, lower my aspirations or just keep hoping for those six numbers...

It was part of a driving experience day so it wasn't for long so hard to get a real judge on it. I drove a misfiring Ferrari 360, Aston DB9, Lambo Gallardo, 911 and an Elise that day. The Elise was the best, it had so much feel to the steering, although the shift was loose on it. I think because it had been abused a lot. The 911 was a tiptronic version and I was told to drive one lap in auto and then use the buttons for two laps. It was better as an auto to be honest with you.

I don't remember exactly what model 911 it was. Looked like this though

All I can tell from that is that it's a 997!

This was the Elise

One day I will be in the position to take the plunge on one. Until then I continue to dream smile
