Evening all..Around 16;20 this afternoon i was driving through Belgium and i saw a car transporter with a 5 series touring and a Merc van, possibly the one with the prison in the back. There fully livered up police vehicles, why would they be on a transporter in Europe? Sorry for blurry pics.

Mercedes and bmw both produce specialist vehicles for police use. Probably just an order heading to the uk.

The livery is applied by the respective force in the uk. They aren't delivered like that. Odd that they are on the continent

Maybe with the squeeze on Police finances it is proving cheaper to have the factories do the full livery job, fit 'plates etc and reduce cost in UK.....which may well be in a different cost code, (budget), to the build/supply cost code. Someone being smart with the accounting? Just a thought.

TVP cars arrive plain and are stickered up in Bicester. They're likely movie props

The sprinter van certainly looks like an old model. I also think they may have been used in filming.

I would guess filming. The Bill used to be filmed opposite were I worked. Used to see police cars on the back of trailers quite often, mind you they had magnetic plates that said "film car" that they use to put over the police signs on the car when they weren't filming.

But would you need to do that when the car's on a transport and clearly not in service?
