Side or rear exist exhausts!!!!!
Discussion
Ive recently bought a 1996 classic SE, and i absolutely love it, a dream come true, but I have noticed something that I'm not so sure about. The exhaust exits out the back of the car and not at the side just after the "cat". i understand that this is marginally quieter, but thats precisely what i don't like about it. i love the sound. How easy is it to convert back to a side exit exhaust and does it affect the performance.
if your current system is the caterham one that has a side box, then that exits and routes in to a rear underslung box then you just take the side and rear boxes off and put a new caterham side exit box on. I doubt that you'd need to change the manifold/collector arrangement.
It's a bit naff having the rear exit box, but if it gets you one track when you need to by making it quiet enough then it's worth it. I had it on my K-R500. In back to back tests, the rear exit gave 226 and side 232, so not a huge powerloss.
