WTB: 996 C4 Millenium

Hello,

After many months of deliberating of types, price etc etc, I've come to the following:

993: Would love one (esp TT), but I know I'd want a more up to date interior, although I suspect the 'character' is stronger than 996. Prices way to strong for age aswell!
997: Bottled out after being on waiting list, Just couldn't justify price, depreciation (over 4/5 yrs)
996: Never quite liked the exterior look (lights) compared to 993, but best allround choice and price, time to buy.

Out of all the models, having seen a 996 Carrera 4 Millenium edition @ a dealer I just thought, thats the one.

But seems you're paying 3/4k over normal C4 pricing, however on looking at options, this seems a bargain ie sat/nav, leccy seats/s/roof, Litronic etc etc). Plus I'm finding it hard to find a 996 with all the bits I want!...

It looks like Non-OPC pricing is around £37/£39k, does this sound right?!

I'm looking to find a few now and test drive etc. Any one who has one, views appreciated

993: update the interior - Why? You're meant to be looking out of the screen!

Because its not going to be purely used as a 'hard core' driving tool, alot of driving is everyday traffic etc, and hence want a more 'comfortable' surrounding!

I don't think the 996 is much more of a comfortable surrounding. But we'll see in the not to distant future who bought one because it's more comfortable and who got one because it's the latest thing!

I have a friend with a C4 millenium, he has had it since new and will not part with it. The main reason is the Tan, aluminium interior with all the toys and extra detailing, it is a good upgrade over the regular 996. I don't have the info to hand, but I am sure they were more than 3 grand dearer than a regular C4 hen new.

If you are looking at the millenium, it should be fitted with the chromed Turbo look wheels....these can look shabby after kerbing etc....to replace them it costs about 2 grand i you can find them...a few millenia now have regular painted wheels fitted.

Thanks for the info... That is one thing I keep forgetting, those 'rims'.. This one www.hagleycar.com/popup.cgi?file=images/cr286.jpg + www.hagleycar.com/popup.cgi?file=images/cr286b.jpg are nice pics. Didn't realise you could 'option' the aero kit though!?.. Mind you £41k is a bit too much....

Are most tiptronic, or did you get manuals aswell?

It’s not just a comfort thing; you've got to look at it too, which is the other problem with the 993 interior.

that's one of the reasons why I bought a 993 instead of a 996. Had a Boxster S before which had the same interior as the 996. For me the 993 interior is a much more pleasant place to be. Unlike the Boxster S, it doesn't feel or look like a Nissan interior.

Do you know if they're all 'natural' brown colour inside? as with the dark blue/black type exterior?

Finding it hard to track down sensibly priced ones at mo, esp with low miles...

Yeah mate, only available in Natural Brown and the Viola Chromaflare paint. Quite nice paint - it swings from Blackt to dark dark green depending upon the strength of the sunlight.

Have you tried the topmarques website?

Bear in mind for some reason in the US they don't get the extra phone handset with PCM.

£72k new and £38k now.....that's what I call depreciation! GT3's still pulling £53-ish at dealers...

True but not surprising, because you don't get much for most optional extras on the second hand market, and thats what makes it such a bargain... second hand!

Basically the Millennium was a C4 with each and every optional extra as standard. I would guess that apart from the Sat Nav, Litronics, Sunroof and a couple of other bits the remainder of the options are 'free'.
