Glad to see him wave as he was being stretchered off. Real shame for porsche on the last race of the season.

Porsche have tweeted he is ok. But still looked to be a nasty one. http://youtu.be/wam9HOnqtVE

Looks like he lost control, left the track at speed, collected a Ferrari en route to the barrier.

Edited to say that it has worked out ok for Porsche. Race finished under safety car.

Holy ste, car has pretty much bent in 2. Still, huge credit to those who build/design them. For someone to be OK after that is incredible.

Nasty one, hope he's OK and the other driver too

Ill wind etc. for Porsche - the lead Toyota was 0.5s behind the lead Porsche and closing fast when the safety car was deployed

The LMP1 crashes always look horrendous as they shed their bodywork, hopefully the initial impact wasn't too severe as the secondary hit looked at a good angle to not get hurt from.

My mrs just told me about this (she would trade me for Webber any day of the week). Looks to be a nasty one, and as has already been pointed out quite close to where he had a big crash in 03 I think.

Yowzers.

At least all of the aero regs are working and it stayed on the deck. BBC said something about misc injuries, but used the awake and alert line. Presumably just a bit roughed up

Until then, it was a good race. Battles between Audi v Porsche v Toyota with different strengths.

The kind of race events that would be a fitting home for Button, Kobayashi, Vergne and co. Proper cars, Proper aero, proper tyres.

Is that the bend where the pit lane starts? The camera angles make it look unfamiliar, compared with what I'm used to in F1.

I watched the first 2 hours on my Sky box but it stopped recording just after the 2 hour mark so missed it live. Caught up later on on the news of the crash.

What happened to the 20 car anyway. At the 2 hour mark it was 15 seconds in the lead and when crashed was running 6th?

It seemed to lose some top end power around the halfway mark, went from lapping in the 1:19s to around 1:23 at its worst. The P1H field was so tight that this was enough to drop it down the order, especially as the Audis seemed to get quicker the longer the race went on. I think there may have been a slow pitstop in there as well (possibly to diagnose what was wrong?), but the coverage cut away so can't be sure.

Saw this on the FIA WEC mobile app. Well worth a download for free highlights or you can pay a few quid to watch the entire event.

Quite a nasty looking accident. Good to see him waving and Ok and Porsche on the top step of the podium.
