Hi,

Am looking at "investing" in a 2nd hand PS3 and getting a few choice games. It's been a long time since I've been in the video games world so I'm not sure which games are the best for their particular genres.

I know I'd get GTA V, and probably a GT version (6??) - but other than that I'm not sure which to go for. Like strategy / turn based stuff, wouldn't mind a decent platformer / First person shooter / RPG...

What are your must haves for each genre? What sort of prices am I looking at for a console / the games?

Thanks

Steven

Check out your local Facebook sales pages. Loads of them are circulating in the region of £50 to £100 with 2 controllers and a bunch of games. Which is why mine was relagated to the bedroom (as it is worth so little in second hand value) when it was replaced by the PS4. Oh and Resistance Fall of man games etc are good !!

Tried finding a local facebook sales page but couldn't see anything that fitted the bill (searching for London console 2nd hand - and similar permutations). Anywhere else to look?

Any more game recommendations?

Where to start!

There are loads of FPSs like C.O.D - but they are not my thing on consoles.

The Borderlands games are great fun.
The Last of Us

For RPG: FallOut 3 (and the Vegas one)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Skyrim is meant to be great, but I've not the time to play it.

The "Drakes" Uncharted Series is very good.

Not really played platformers on it other than Little Big planet.

I'd be nervous of buying a 2nd hand console, the 12GB slim is ~£150 and can be found cheaper from time to time. It is also in the Tesco 'boost' thing if you've spare vouchers.
With the 12GB console you can always upgrade the HDD when you get it or at a later date (backing up you stuff first).

Gumtree or local collect off Ebay?

We've just sold my sons Wii on Ebay with a few games for £60 and it was perfect. Not everything on there is broken!

Skyrim and Fallout 3 - but be prepared to kiss your life goodbye, these games are time vampires.
