A little background first. I work overseas so will be laying up my recently purchased Cerbera for a month at a time, maybe two months over the winter.

It is currently in a Carcoon Veloce in a workshop I share and I am happy with that, but I have a set of Levo Artis ramps that I was thinking of putting inside the Carcoon to get access underneath the car to fiddle with and clean bits etc.

The ramps would damage the floor of the Carcoon as might anything I spill or splash, oil, paint etc. so I thought about rubber matting on the floor.

Do you think this would encourage damp to form under the rubber matting ?
The Carcoon operation is supposed to prevent damp but air wouldn't circulate under the mat is this an issue or am I worrying about a problem that isn't there ?

Surely when working on the car you will move it from within the Carcoon.

Possibly not, it depend what else in in the shed at the time, weather conditions etc.

If I put the car on the ramps inside the Carcoon it gives a further advantage of freeing up the space the ramps take in the shed.

It is just an idea at present.

It's not a bad idea. Just put something under each ramp / jack / axle stand / whatever, rather than over the whole of the area under the car.

If you are storing for a month or two at a time, it might not be a bad idea to have the tyres off the ground. It's often recommended to motorcyclists who store their bikes over the winter to have it on stands so the weight of the bike is not on the tyres, helping to prevent deformation by standing on the same patch for months on end.

That sounds like a better plan I could just put down rubber matting or similar under each corner to stop the ramps damaging the base, then dust sheets under the car if I was working under it.

That would resolve the potential damp issue.

No damp issue - if there is damp in the air, the fan will remove it.

If there is damp that doesn't get into the air (trapped under the mat) it won't affect the car.

I guess that is right, I might give it a go and just check under the mat for damp, three weeks until I get home though so no rush to buy matting.

Thanks for the replies.
