Last and only one I tried from there was very salty bordering on inedible so might be worth soaking in water first. I would then do a Thermidor sauce, chop it in halve remove the white meat and also from the claws then wash the shell out of all the brains and grey bits. Chop lobster in to smaller chunks place back into cleaned shells pour over Thermidor sauce and then grill it until golden brown.

They sound a good deal but I bought a fresh Selsey lobster cooked that morning from my mums local Fishmonger in Pagham on Saturday for £10 along with a huge crab for £4.

Definitely defrost it in fresh cold water, as suggested above. Whatever solution Lidl lobsters are frozen in has a nasty chemical taste you want to get rid of.

Personally I found them rubbery so probably wouldn't bother with grilling. I'd slice it thinly and eat as is, with a squeeze of lemon, brown bread and perhaps some Morecambe Bay potted shrimps rather than just butter.

Thanks, so you wouldn't heat it chicane? Just leave it to get to room temp and tuck in?

Grilling in the sauce and some Gruyere on top will not do it too much harm. I personally don't think the quality is up to eating without a sauce to improve flavour. A spicy tomato one with pasta would work well too.

Personally I wouldn't heat it, but I'm a fan of food served straight up without too much buggering about.

You could try splitting it lengthways and spreading it with garlic butter, then grill just until the garlic has coloured slightly. Don't let the garlic burn, and take out any trace of the green shoot inside the garlic clove - it will go bitter.

Whatever you do, give the lobster a good soak in cold water first.

I make one into risotto, along with a crab and a few prawns. I used the shells, mirepoix, parsley and garlic to make a stock.

However, after having seen the size of the lobster I wouldn't buy one again. I don't think that we should take lobsters that small from the sea.
