Will the 919 V4 be fiited to a road car?

I am sure I read many moons ago that a V4 engine has horrendous balance problems. Maybe current technology has managed to circumvent these issues.
Perhaps it uses lanchester balance shafts like a 944?In any case, it would seem that this is now not an issue.

Agreed. We have super torquey 4 pots on offer from pretty much every manufacturer of note. The problem is that they aren't remotely interesting for a sports car. I'm not really sure what the point of them is (apart from doing well on the official cycle) but they certainly aren't any fun at all!'Look how fast my car can accelerate in the wrong gear while sounding like a f
ked up shopping car! I'll lose my licence without even having fun!'The motoring press has swallowed it all hook, line and sinker because they are relatively poor (so obsessed with mpg figures) and get to test drive fast cars at way over the speed limits, so they find the torque useful whereas it is pointless in the ACTUAL real world where if you accelerate hard, you want to be rewarded with lots of noise and drama, rather than 'effortless progress' that obsesses journos. If anything, having to at least change down a couple of gears to overtake makes it feel like you are actually driving the car. Back to the old 'involvement' argument :-)
