Interparcel - threat of court :-/
Discussion
A friend (no, really), had a parcel mix up when sending a parcel abroad via Interparcel.
The parcel was stuck in customs in the US, and Interparcel didn't respond to my friend's attempts to resolve, and they then returned the parcel to UK. Interparcel are now claiming the fee to return the parcel to the UK (~£30).
They are threatening legal action to reclaim the ~£30 + costs blah blah blah, but this being the real world and all, and feeling aggrieved, my friend did not respond to the demand in the specified time (over a month ago).
Does anyone know if Interparcel actually follow through with reclaiming the debt through courts (or other means) in such cases?
Thanks.

For starters Interparcel don't carry anything.
They are an intermediary (i.e. a broker) as a visit to their website reveals.
They are passing back to you a cost billed to them.
A different situation from yours, but see post #12.

Not the most current thread, but it suggests Interparcel is distinctly 'Marmite'.
OK when things go smoothly but somewhat lacking when it doesn't.

Given Interparcel's failure to communicate, your friend's failure to engage wasn't the best approach.
Whose fault was the mix up - your friend's or the courier used by Interparcel?
If the latter, the service you paid for hasn't been performed. Does your friend want the goods back?
One option may be to pay up get the item returned to you and counter-claim for ALL your costs.
See the first link above.

Would highly doubt they'll take it all the way to court.
I sold an item worth £200 on eBay to a guy in US.
Buyer asked for a refund and I agreed. Told him to mark it as a return to dodge custom charge.
Letter shows up saying item is held in Parcelforce and i need to pay £110 to get it back.
I phone everyday for a week saying DO NOT SEND BACK TO US while I try and get it sorted over the phone.
Two weeks later the site is returned to some sorting depot in Chicago.
That was a year ago and the item is still sitting there.
Parcel force went against my word on my item and also tried to rip the arse out of my return.
Never heard anymore about it and the USPS refuse to send it back.
