Servicing Gaz coilovers

Hi,

I'm in the process of removing all of the wishbones from my car and replacing all of the bushes and balljoints, to freshen it all up a bit. I'm going to have all the wishbones thermally zinc sprayed and painted too.

Whilst I'm at it, I'll obviously be removing the Gaz coilovers. Do you recommend I send them away to be serviced? Is there a set service interval with these shocks? I know the Nitrons on the VX220 need to be serviced every year or two.

Will Gaz do this and what is it likely to cost? I have already emailed Gaz, but I thought I'd ask for your opinions too please.

I refurbed my suspension earlier this year, and I did send my GGP's back to GAZ for a service, it did not cost a lot to have them serviced around £30 each iirc, and they turned them round in less than a week, I stripped off the springs etc. and only sent back the damper units to save on shipping costs, they definitely felt better after being serviced. I marked the springs so that I knew what corner they came off and I also measured the height of the spring adjusters just so I could put it back close to where it was previously on reassembly, at least I could drive it to get the geo set up after all the work was done.
With regard to the wishbones I was going to get mine blasted and powder coated etc. but in the end it was pretty much the same price to buy a new set from RT racing with all bushes and thrust washers fitted, and they where of great quality fitted straight on, it is well worth phoning them for a price.

I already have a complete set of Powerflex bushes (bought them from the classifieds on here cheap!) and Southways are going to blast and thermally zinc spray them for not a lot of money. Then I can paint them with some hard epoxy two pack paint. Shouldn't cost me much to do.

How much are the new wishbones?

I just got a reply from Gaz, you're right with the pricing. Worthwhile doing at that price.

Edit: Just seen the wishbones on eBay. If I get mine thermally zinc sprayed they should be better protected than just zinc primer and it will work out cheaper.

I like the look of their bolt kits though, I might buy a set of those.
