I'm looking to replace the 205/70/15 Falken Landair T110's that are on the Honda CRV ('02, auto, awful) at the moment - they have lasted nearly 3 years but the wet weather performance is a bit on the poor side and the car tends to go into a four wheel drift if you attempt to drive it in a slightly spirited fashion.

I don't need anything that's capable of going up a mountain, just a decent on-road tyre that can cope with the odd trip across a muddy field now and again, as it's an old CRV with boat suspension I also don't need anything semi-slick or sporty, just safe like the rest of the old workhorse.

I'd ordered in Yokohama Geolander G055's but as the fitting day has arrived the garage just called to say they can't get them and would have to order from Germany for arrival next week, normally fine but I have an MOT tomorrow and one of them is on the limit now.

So I'm looking for alternatives, the G055's appealed because of their wet weather rating but I've never actually tried them on anything. I though the sidewalls on the Falkens were too soft as when inflated to the correct level they always looked like they needed more so if I can stiffen things up slightly that would be nice.

Apart from setting the car on fire does anyone have any suggestions as to suitable tyres that are worth a look?
