A poster at rennteam knows somebody who is friends with somebody at Weissach. Report is 3.8L, practically straight out of the 911S. This way they don't have to develop a new motor. Nor submit a new motor for EPA/Euro regulatory certification...

Very through the grapevine of cource but makes sense. Will probably go very well, bit lazy of them though.
Still, marketing and profits trump everything else.

Nice if true... But another couple of posters on Rennlist also apparently in the know both said they heard it was the standard 3.4 with a few extra bits and some ECU tuning to get the desired output.

Either way we shall find out in 3 months time!

3 engines were proposed and tested for the GT4, 3.4, 3.6 and 3.8. So in a way everybody is right.

At least no one is toting the turbo rumour anymore wink

3.8 would work FOR ME... No replacement for displacement and all that.

3.6 would be my choice though... Fits the ethos IMHO (smaller capacity than GT3, larger capacity than other Caymans).

I've got a 3.6l 415 hp lump in my 997.1 GT3, wow that would be awesome in a 1200kg mid engined Cayman GT4....

i am not a patient person!apart from the engine i hope they do something special with the body work aswell so it doesnt look like a gts/cs with a wing at the back and mild pu changes.
