I'm interested about a comment at the beginning saying that if a cyclist (or horse rider) waved you on and the car had an incident they cyclist could be liable???

My understanding is it is you the driver who has made that decision and you should not rely on people waving you through.

Thats my understanding, the driver made the decision. the cyclist would not be liable.

Yep - even if you are waved out of a junction by a Police Officer, it is still your responsibility to check it is clear. This also goes for traffic light controlled junctions.

(In law), you never, ever proceed unless it's safe to do so.

It's not always the easiest of things to figure out whether a poster on a web forum is male or female, but I'd me amazed if more than a quarter of the posters on that particular thread are actually women from the tone of their writing!

For some reason I came to the same conclusion. I still don't really know why even now having considered my thoughts on it!

Good to see the majority of posters "get" it regardless of male/female. Almost puts Pistonhead General Gassing to shame!

Start a thread in GG with the title "Mumsnet has better knowledge of the rules of the road than PH"

You never know, it might shame a few of the serial "they deserve to be run over" types off the forum.
