Got through to the call centre in Halifax they have. I have to say there is something about the Canadian accent that just works for dealing with insurance and call centre related things. Must be some deep psycological trigger that makes it sound calming.

Just cancelled our insurance with them, which is a bit of a shame as they have been a very good insurer.

Only reason we left is the replacement for the RCZ is a little bit specialist and has modifications that the call centre weren't grasping. I obviously drew the short straw today though as I ended up speaking to a call centre elsewhere in the world.

I had a good chat with some woman a while back about the weather! Think Canada had bad snow as did we (a light dusting for us).. But it was quite nice really compared to talking to a programmed worker who you can't understand

Got put through to that a couple of years ago. The can-do/want-to-help attitude is amazing.

I had a claim while with Amazon, and other than the low ball offer for the write-off (which the sorted out with evidence of higher value) it was no bother at all. I was actually sad they just weren't competitive for renewal 2 years later.

I note you work in insurance Luke, is that your professional opinion?
As in is that the view you hold on behalf of your company? smile

Canadians are lovely people, they're disarmingly charming.

Spoke to them as well.

Got a girl called Elizabeth who helped sort out things when my renewal was higher than expected.
She sounded lovely so was either A, actually lovely. B, built like a Mack. hehe

They do have a very soothing accent which is very nice to deal with.

Does anyone know which times of the day go through to the different call centres, or doesn't it work like that?

Canada deal with New business and Renewal queries, India deal with customer service queries.

I believe Canada come into play at around 13:00 and then cover most of the evening shifts, same for India.
Those timings may not be exact though as I don't really have any contact with those departments anymore.

I found them to be very fair when it came to my claim with them TBH. Paid more than I expected!

They might be nice to speak to when they're taking your money but they’re the worst company I’ve ever dealt with when needing to claim. I will never go back!!

Yes I got to speak to a nice Canadian lady when buying the insurance but when I came to claim on a non fault accident it’s taken them a year to sort it out. Not only did they not even contact the offending party for over 2 months!! (Apparently in their small print it says it should be two weeks at most). They then didn’t give an accurate payout for the accident, no courtesy car even though it was in my policy, no communication between admiral law and admiral insurance companies. Etc, etc, etc, the list goes on. When hunting for my next insurance, even if they are several hundred pounds cheaper I will never ever go near them and would advise all to steer well clear. Complete and utter imbeciles!

It’s not only my experience, a colleague at work recently had his E46 written off as he hit some debris in a puddle and they wrote it off financially. He never handed them the V5 as he wanted to buy the car back. They decided to take it to the other end of the country and sell it!!!! He has only just got the car back after 5 months of faffing around.

Rant over...........

I phoned up to put my old metro on insurance (lady driver, late 20s, full NCB etc in a nice area) and the Canadian lady said that the policy was so cheap, there must be some mistake.

I got her to google what a Rover Metro was

"oh my, that's a c, c, cute little car"

Polite, even in the face of a Metro

I did, no issues whatsoever, settled quickly and at a fair price.
