However, it says that the driver was ejected from the car. My wife used to be chief flight nurse on a medevac helicopter, and saw amazing instances of survival where the car was obliterated but the crumple zones and airbags did their job. It was mostly those who didn't wear their seatbelts and were ejected who died.

Suspect its a DB9, think you can make out the auto 'box cooler pipes by the torque tube. Horrific though.

DB9, Can see the V12 intake manifold in the left of the picture separated from the car.

That's a pretty harrowing image, can't really make anything of the front end out. Wear your belts kids.

Dreadful picture and given how robust Astons are what speed must he have been travelling at. Horrific.

To a non-expert like me, it looks as if he had been travelling at high speed and had not or had hardly braked.

I know that bit of road and the speed limit there is 100 KPH (around 60 MPH)...

I'd surmise that he was exceeding the speed limit. You can brake quickly from 100 km/h to a speed that will not obliterate the car.

I heard once in a Mental Health training course, that a very common way for men to commit suicide is to crash their cars, but often these aren't recorded as suicides as they are rarely clear cut. No seat belt, very fast speed with no sign of braking and a dead center impact.... it could be unfortunately.

The article says he was trying to evade a motorcycle travelling the wrong way at night and lost control; so no suicide.

Definitely a DB9.

So sad. It looks almost as if the driver's seat space is relatively intact. A seat belt might have made all the difference.

Yes SEAT BELT is the important thing here> I still have friends who don't believe they need to wear them. I just cannot understand this lunatic mind set!
