996 GT2 versus 996 Turbo

Buy a 996 turbo, stick a GT2 kit on and spend the rest on a 9e power upgrade. Then wave goodbye to all GT2s (probably upside down in a hedge ) while you sit in comfort and make it to you destination without crashing into the scenery.
Unless of course you have some driving ability in which case a GT2 will leave a similarly powered Turbo for dead - fact. jfp said:

Only plus side of having a GT2 is that when you do arrive at your destination you feel the instant need to high five the nearest person proclaiming your a driving god for not spending the rest of the day upside down in a hedge
I love GT2s by the way. Much better than those girly GT3s that need 10k suspension refreshes every other week

Evening all...
Thinking about a possible change to either one of the above...
Don't know too much about the finer details of th eGT2...grateful for any pointers regarding performance, running costs and any other differences between the two.
Thanks in advance.
It really does depend on what you want to be honest. The turbo is a great, great daily driver that is both capable and comfortable. The GT2 is so different in many ways but is still comfortable - to a point. With a good set up and a power upgrade a GT2 is an absolute rocket ship, looks fantastic and rewards the driver. Thinking about a possible change to either one of the above...

There isn't a huge choice choice of GT2's on the market. I was told a few days ago that a deposit had been placed on the SCoM car. The other two options both have historical damage. The silver car was quite extensive and there are a couple of previous threads discussing it when it was for sale at a different dealer.
I've owned a 996 turbo X50 and a 996 GT2 (as well as a 997 gen1 turbo and a 996 GT3). Both the turbo's were awesome daily drivers but for me lacked the excitement factor as a weekend toy. The GT2 is without doubt the most enjoyable car I have ever driven and that includes the GT3.
