I have a couple of 80s helmets for sale on eBay,a Bell Star 2 and a Griffin Clubman and I cannot believe the high levels of response.

Am I missing something here, what is the attraction of older helmets?

No smut thank you!

I suspect someone will paint them in a famous driver's colours and then sell them on for even more money, perhaps even claiming they are genuine.

Just look at the retro lids now being made by Bell & Premier, you have the original - if you have a Lewis Jacket get that listed too.

Hipsters don't care for safety using 1970/80's gear as long as it looks cool.

Let the bidding ramp it self up, it seems anything 70/80's bike related is going silly, just wish I'd kept various Micron & Allspeed exhausts.

It's the fascination and current hipster trend of cafe racer bikes.
