Swishing noise from passenger footwell

Have any of you experienced a sound like swishing liquid from the passenger footwell area (I believe it happens mostly when I am stearing) ?

I know water can get in the driver's side wing, into the footwell from inside the engine bay if the brake/clutch fluid reservoir is not sealed well. Maybe there's something on the other side that could let water in.
Not sure though.

Thanks Steve. There is no visible liquid and no problem with the brakes.

John. My heating is working fine, but I will check the level, once I have found out how!

Are you sure it's water and not just something inside the airbox like a screw or some leaves ?

You can get you hand in the air box in the passenger foot well if you remove the circular vent. You may need to remove the glove box (very easy to do - just 2 alen bolts) to get a better view.

If it on full lock, could be the PAs making its whoosh noise. pretty normal but worth checking PAS fluid level.
Can also be water in the door - check the drain holes are not blocked at the bottom of the door.

Did you find it?? Go with SH with the door Drain holes. Mine werent blocked when I heared Swishing of water... In Fact the wasnt any drain holes in it at all has now though.

I get the same sound from the footwell.
On mine it is pretty much all the time, can be stationary when you hear it so can't think its liquid sloshing around.
Had a friend keep an ear out but could not locate exactly where it comes from.
As it comes from the footwell we thought that the sound is actually from the battery as it is charged up. It is usually worse for the first 5-10 mins after starting, when the battery has been used and is charging up. Couldn't tell you what sort of battery I have though.

Firstly, it's quite touching to see how keen fellow TVR owners are to help each other. I can't imagine getting that with any other marque.

The problem is not speed related, so I don't think drainage holes, leaves, screws.... are the cause. Also happened from new, so unlikely to be blocked from the factory.

I never considered battery charging! Is that really a possibility?

Still need to check the PAS fluid level.

Hello Folks

After several months as a silent observer, I though it was about time I climbed on board and introduced myself.

My name is Jim and I have owned a 1995 blue Griff 500 for just over two years.

I was just looking through some previous postings and saw the one about the water swishing noise in the passenger footwell. My car has recently started doing this too and I wondered if anyone had been able to solve the mystery. I though it was an airlock, but have followed Steve Heath's recommendations from the book to clear excess air from the cooling system and it has made no difference.

I'm happy that it's not water in the passenger door, and the car does not have power steering, so am stuck as to what it might be.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I had this for a while - it was air in the heter pipes after fitting a new ali radiator, it took about 500 miles to work the air out of the system - the noise for me was the valve - try adjusting the heater valve (i.e turn up the heat) and see if the noise changed pitch.

I used to get this all the time, I think it was the water running around the heater pipes.

Sounds like nothing to worry about then.... I haven't done 500 miles since the last service when the coolant was changed (500 miles would be about 16 times round Guernsey, which would make me dizzy!) Trip to Southern France planned for two weeks time should get the circulation going again....
