An increasingly poor company car list has meant I am now vaguely (read reluctantly) considering a 125ps 1.4tsi Scirocco (only recently released in the Scirocco) as a company car for commuting and work miles. Volkswagens figures suggest a combine figure of 53.3 mpg.

Does anyone have any experience of this new 1.4tsi and whether it can achieve a combined figure anywhere near that stated by Volkswagen?

Most of my driving is dual carriage way at 60-70mpg commuter speeds but i'm keen to know what sort of mpg this little turbocharged unit is doing at 85mph ish. The rest of the time I'm pretty heavy footed and a night time jaunt to the West Country will see whatever I'm driving pushed rather hard.

Any advice welcomed.

Thanks.

There's a fairly extensive threading the variants of this engine in the VW/Audi section of the forum

They sure are, but then I live in the UK so I have to deal with them.

Oh btw I drive 35k+ a year so mpg is of genuine concern...

If it's the 122ps, Honestjohn says real world mpg of between 40-51mpg depending on use, with an average mpg of 45.

Thanks, whether you can believe the mpg figures people input (are they reading of the OBC etc) on there I dont know but I guess it gives an indication.

They are more accurate than the official figures :-)

The 1.4TFSi C.O.D. is surprisingly economical for
The performance ( measured with brim to brim method which showed the trip computer is slightly optimistic )
That's in a lighter weight car though

I agree but this years list doesnt include any unfortunately...the company only has about 100 cars in its fleet and as such get pretty poor deals.

I'm getting approximately ~46mpg or so, driving in a manner not so dissimilar to the OPs.

Average in my 150 is about 45-46, gets 48ish on motorway but reckon you'd get 50 if you kept to 70.

I had an A3 with this engine as a hire car not long ago and was happy with it. Good bit of power and quite frugal. Obviously not TDI frugal but pretty good for a petrol.
