Winter runabout - Mini ? 205 GTI ?

Been looking for a winter runabout to fill a gap, ( not mine ) basically started looking at a 205 Gti 1.9 half decent one is £3k, but just been offered a mini cooper s works, 80k with v little history and 9 owners.
Actually this is the second mini cooper s I have been offered this week for about £3k is this normal or should I run for the hills !!

Well I wouldn't use a 205GTI for winter duties. Not that I wouldn't rely on one, just I wouldn't want to cover one in salt.

I wouldn't touch an original Mini in winter.
