Slow moving tail lights?
Discussion
Intended as light hearted - so don't get knickers in twists!
With it being winter now, and me living a long way north in particular the vast majority of my driving is done in the dark at present. Different areas have different spending patterns, but there are certain cars which can be recognised from their tail lights and are almost certain to make your heart sink on a windy single-carriageway.
The K11 Nissan Micra is no more in Aberdeenshire. It's the following lights which tell you that you're going to be doing 40mph unless you can find an overtaking opportunity! I'm not sure why - but these cars are only ever spotted going slow in Aberdeenshire. One could be forgiven for thinking they were electronically limited to 50bhp and 45mph.
Number 1:

Number 2:

Most people who want to drive at or near the speed limits get diesel Audis round these parts.
What tail lights warn you of your journey about to take 1.5 times longer than it needs to?

Is number 1 a Skoda Octavia Estate? Surely that would be lumped in the 'diesel Audi(VAG)' group?
Same parent company but different image though I think. My usual haunt is the B999 which I join at Methlick and follow down to the A90 at the north of Aberdeen. It transitions from tcheuter country (thick Doric accented farmer sorts for the benefit of other UK nationals) own through Pitmedden and Potterton which are more dormitory towns. Those who want to look sharp and edgy go for the Audi. The slower-pace-of-life sorts seem to like Octavias!Nowt wrong with the cars, but Skodas must be involved in overtakes in pretty much every journey they make in N.E. Scotland, yet will seldom be the ones who start behind and finish ahead.
I hardly ever see Passats here. Those with Golfs seem to span everything from glacial to normal through to boyracer so seem to have wider appeal than the fairly "uncool" Skodas.
Haha that's funny as i just said to my other half yesterday that it's normally the same car that holds up sometimes at least 20+ cars coming home from Westhill out towards Alford and it's an Octavia...when i see it my heart just sinks as i know there's only a couple places to pass it and i'll be crawling about 40mph all the way!
Another one that really annoys me in Aberdeen(shire) but sure it's the same everywhere is people just can't seem to wait at a junctions anymore, they'll see you and wait..wait...wait then just pull out right in front of you and just sit at 45mph, they probably went faster than that just to get out in front of me at the junction!! Arghhh!

Haha, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for this Octavia terrorising Aberdeenshire
(could it be the same one?)

Yep, seems to be an Aberdeenshire thing, they'll almost throw their car onto the road in front of you, only to drive slowly and dither about (funny how they weren't like that earlier!), which will usually be combined by the driver(s) behind becoming much more aggressive (approaching quickly, tailgating etc.) and pull all sorts of aggressive moves to get past (funny how it's never, ever the other way round - i.e. slow car behind and faster car in front)There may be something in this silver Octavia conspiracy!
I had a red F-Type as a courtesy car for a week. On the way home from work one day I followed a silver Octavia following a tractor for about 5 miles up the B999 and past at least 5 stretches I'd usually overtake on - on the basis that I assumed the Octavia would intend to overtake. Eventually I conclude that the tractor probably isn't holding up the Skoda going by the left-wards road positioning and lack of any apparent head movement from the driver and at the next overtaking stretch I signal and move out to pass both. As I draw along side - THAT'S when Skoda-man swings out sharply and runs me onto the offside verge. Dips
