Anyone been through the past couple of days?

I had a quick look in the roads forum and not much in the way of updates so figured the best place to ask is in here.

Any feedback much appreciated as i will have to endure north bound journey tomorrow pm.

Cheers guys.

Depends which way

Bridge - Fine, working really well

Tunnels - awful, they haven't removed the barriers and its worse than it was. I work on the business park by the tunnels so any delays hit us hard and the usual backup route (past Bluewater) is not good this time of year.

We are used to seeing queues around 5pm, they are currently starting around 3:30pm each day but this is only the tunnel side aiui

In general, southbound traffic is much improved as the toll booths have been removed. However, at rush hour, northbound is still very bad as the toll gates are still operating, albeit automatically and not taking cash.

Southbound is a dream, northbound is a nightmare especially if you come from one of the side roads at 1a

Yes. They wouldn't of taken up the barriers without first without this in place. You can no longer pay by cash at the crossing.

Yeah since the 30th, set yourself up an account (takes 2 mins) and you'll only be charged £1.66 a crossing and its all automated.

Been over everyday this week.

No longer queues into Kent from the Bridge. A short 30mph section as you drive around where the left hand most booths used to be and that's it. There are extra average speed cameras there so I do the 30 for that very short stretch.

The tunnel is still a mare. I came over the QE2 about an hour ago and the queues for the tunnel are still bad. Still queuing when I came off for the A2 and the flyover from the A2 was queuing as normal. Last night when I looked at google maps, it was back to the M20 junction. I've gone through the tunnel mid morning all week and its been queuing not quite back to the A2. What has changed is the queues on the road to Erith. I don't know if they've changed the traffic lights at that junction or something but the queues there are ridiculous.

Yes. Although I went in both directions on Sunday, both charged for, then I went both directions again on Tuesday and have only been charged for the northbound crossing….

Does anyone know when the barriers for the tunnel are due to be removed?

"Spring 2015"

So, that'll be May 31st at the earliest then.

Just looked at mine. I've been charged each way for all my trips. Maybe I'm being a bit thick here and I can't see the wood for the trees but where is the option to download a statement for the previous/current month, per vehicle ideally?

I went through last night around midnight (clockwise) and it was awful. One lane traffic for about a mile before the booths, took about half an hour to get through, which is ridiculous at that time in the morning, and then had to take a detour because 1A to 1B was closed.

Nice buggy site that, which also doesn't recognise my registration number. Every other website hooked up to the DVLA recognises it!

I work on the business park next to the bridge too, and yep, the bridge runs really well - it's just a shame that they made such a clusterfk of the tunnels.

We used to see problems on average once or twice a week, and normally from no earlier than about 4 pm unless there was something fairly big on the Essex side of the tunnels - everyday this week the traffic has started building up at, foe some strange reason 3.20... Except for today, which was 2.30

My OH also works in the same office (yep, don't ask) and she spent over an hour tonight getting from our office out to the motorway, which is less than 1/2 mile.

It kept crashing when I was trying to pay on Monday, finally managed to give them my money at 23:00 on Tuesday.

As I'm not a regular crosser the change came as a surprise (I had 2 quid in my hand as I drove through the barrier).

Had a conversation with a bird in the booth when I was held there for 5 minutes, apparently they're not getting rid of the tunnel booths. They're moving them back to the Erith junction and sticking in a new slip road to turn around 5 meter tall lorries in the wrong lane (heard that they will be fining them and giving them points too for not following the road signs) and using the barriers to hold the traffic when they run the escort service through the tunnel.
