Hi was just checking quotes for car insurance for different cars. Tried an edition 30 yesterday no one quoted except XXXX who wanted 1.2k upfront. But today another company is saying they will do it for £800 and I can pay per month. Im 23, whats the deal with this?

It's the insurance company voodoo & yep they do change prices daily.

I renewed mine this week - quoted £265 on the internet then phoned the following day & it had come down to £258. Not going to argue with that!

exact same details?

were you quoting again at some stupid hour?

you will find this is a very bad time to get insurance quotes, for one thing you can usually guaranty a few of the many hundred's of insurers systems will be down for maintenance, but more interesting some insurers factor in meta data this can include the time, so the time of day you quote can effect the quote, now i would suspect that those who quote after midnight could find themselves in a higher risk category than those who do it at 7 o clock in the evening

I've noticed this. Was getting quotes for £1200 about 3 years ago when I first started driving, so I decided to make sure and ran the quote again and they was all coming up to £5000 +....

I then figured out that its the time of day, not sure on a nexact time but anything after midnight is pointless.

I used confused.

It's not the time. A pound to a penny you were spamming quote requests to find out how to get it cheaper.

They detect this and jack up the price. I assume because its a red flag that it's automated. Happened to me when I was systematically trying out combinations to see what happened.
