Hi -

So I had an accident back in June where I was hit by some stupid fool coming out of a side road.
They hit the passenger side of the car from the front wheel backwards damaging the whole side of the car. Anyways Heartlands Ford took it in to repair and did a load of bod jobs and scratched up my car and so I put in a complaint.

There was also a noise coming from the car to which I took it back to them it turned out to be wheel bearing damage to the passenger front wheel.
They told me it was not accident related however I beg to differ as I had never heard this noise before the accident and my car never pulled to the side.

I have put in a complaint with financial ombudsman as I had just brought the car in may and it had a MOT by reputable company and the wheel bearing was not on advisory and was not an issue until the crash which was 3 weeks after.

I was just wondering on your opinions on wheel bearings and whether it was accident related.

I'm guessing the accident aggravated the wheel bearing but look forward to your opinions as I refuse to pay for it when my insurance should be paying for it.

Is it the 2011 Vauxhall that you are talking about? Unless it has a huge mileage then seems very early for a wheel bearing to go, so I would imagine the accident did contribute, can Vauxhall give you an idea of the expected lifespan(mileage) of a front wheel bearing for this car?

Partner curbed the wheel of her nearly new MINI and that caused the wheel bearing to start to fail...

Yes it is a 2011 corsa with 24000 on the clock when i had the accident. The chief motor inspector came to the garage yesterday and stated it was wear and tear and if i was not happy with this outcome then i can escalate to financial ombudsman which i will be. However i cannot get over what arrogant pigs they are. I mean a wheel bearing surley cant be that bad when only 20k ish on the clock and it would have been a pretty bad knock to damage it i.e. the accident.

Corsa's were known when I was at a Vauxhall main dealer for eating wheel bearings. It's not the expected life of the bearing, but it could just be a co-incidence. Did the impact hit the wheel affected at all?
