Hello - I've currently got (for my 'fun' car) a TVR Griff. However, I seriously like the Ferrari 355 and I came very close to buying one a few months ago.

My question: What are the pros and cons of owning a 355? For example, I'm told that servicing is quite pricey but they're very reliable. I don't know if that's true or not.

Hi i have owned a 355 for the last 3 years. I have found it a good reliable car that has not ever let me down. Costs a year with servicing, tyres ect, ect has been around £2000. they do go through rear tyres quickly. I think the key is to buy a good one that has been well looked after and a good selection of paper work.
Then find a good independent or dealer, i have had all my ferraris serviced at Evans Shaw Ferrari in the Birmingham/Litchfeild area where there rates are on par with alot of the independents. Cambelt changes are done every three or four years depending on which school you listen to, the cost is from £800 for an engine in job or £1200ish for an engine out joby.
Try www.ferrari-talk.com they do a very detailed buyers guide.

They are indeed stunning cars, I owned one for five months.

My one piece of advice would be to make sure you have a good test drive to sample the performance of the 355. It was my first Fcar and prior to that I was spoilt with TVR's - Griffith 500SE, 3xTuscans, T350C...

To go from cars with so much low down torque, I found the performance of the 355 very different. Not disappointing, but very different. Personally, I found it a little "boring". Subsequently, I upgraded the car to a 360.

Have a good go, and if it fits...

Regarding the quality etc, going from Blackpool's finest to a Ferrari was a huge leap in quality. It genuinely feels worth the extra money.

Best of luck with whatever you do.

PS: Get a Tubi and if you can, a Spider or GTS.
