Declaring SORN / disabled tax class / V5C already gone

Apologies for the stab in the dark title!
Just purchased a winter shed, all paperwork done - previous keeper retained the V5c to send etc etc. Given the fact the car was bought in under 30 secs, I failed to realise it is currently down as being disabled tax which according the the DVLA runs to May next year.
Now I know to change this and thus tax the car, you'd need to take the V5C to a Post Office and tick the required box and then tax the car as normal...
However...
As I'm not using it yet, I tried to declare it SORN on line and can't as it states that I must declare I'm entitled to the disabled class... which I'm not.
Currently waiting to hear if the previous has already sent the V5c away... if not I can either go and get it or ask him to tick the change of tax class box, send it and thus the new V5c will come amended, but at the moment... how do I go about declaring it SORN?
I have some breathing space for a few days until the DVLA received the change of keeper details so in their eyes it's still registered to the previous and still currently taxed, all be it as disabled to May.
Onlien info seems sporadic so hoping somebody may be able to advise?
