Popped My Aston Cherry Today
Discussion
Been lurking around here for a while and generally being nosey while I considered my options as I planned to replace my Cayman and based on what I read here, plus Grant's excellent book, I decided to take the plunge and today I picked up my 2013 Skyfall Silver Vantage S from AM Works.
I've loved the look of the Vantage from when it first came out and never thought I'd actually be in a postion to own one but when I realised it was within reach I decided to make the jump and so far I'm in love. Astons are very aspirational cars and I have to admit that I do feel a little out of my league but what the hell, it's fantastic! Mrs Pants loved the Cayman and was aprehensive about the Vantage but now that we've got it I think she feels the same way as me. We have the car on the basis that it's something that will get used the same way that we used the Cayman i.e. everything; commuting, day trips, poppong to Tesco, etc. It's'a daily driver not a garage queen!
I test drove two others before settling on this one. I really didn't like the SportShift so have gone for a manual which I am really happy with, my Cayman was a manual and was much more fun and involving than the PDK so I guess it was natural that I would feel that way about the SS 'box. I'm very happy with the spec as it has all the toys includung the stupidly expensive B&O audio system which I don't feel is as bad as some have suggested, particulalry following a few minor adjustments.
I looked at all the obvious optins; 911, F-Type, even an R8 but nothing captured my heart like the Vantage. So enough waffle, here are the obligitary pics, apologies for the poor quality, they were taken during a quick stop to pull fuse 15

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I've been driving around with fuse 15 out but have put it back in for now as it's a bit loud for early morning start-ups as I live in the centre of a town with neighbours close by, will look at the remote switch mod at some point as that looks like the ideal solution.
