Had a number of truckers tailgating me on the drive down to work last month. A few right up my chuff through roadworks but this one was the best.. I'm doing 50ish, wafting along happily behind other traffic ahead.

Truck should be doing 40mph on a single carriage way shouldn't it.

i'm not too sure what the issues is, at the start he's much closer than the 2 second rule which we are meant to stick to, but no closer than i will see most people sat together in a queue of traffic doing 50 on a nation speed limit, so i am not really sure why you've got your camera out at that point, unless he'd previously been getting a lot closer.

During the video sure he does get too close, but i am not sure that is tailgating, i think it's just as likely you've caught his attention and the guy trying to get a better look trying to figure out what the fk you are going sticking something out your window, as you say you were in a queuing traffic doing 50, i somehow doubt he was pulling out for an overtake when he starts going across to the middle of the road

Well at least the lorry driver is in better control of his vehicle and paying more attention than you appear to be.

Not really that bothered to be honest, just seemed a bit close and 'having a look' seemed a bit pointless as there was no opportunity to overtake.

Amateur.

Some of them manage a 1 second gap or less in motorway roadworks sections.

He's probably looking at you filming may have thought you were a truck fan.

I've done similar in my Caterham where people try to take a pic from there car or bus, usually kids so I pull along side so they can get a better look before booting it for some noise.

I do agree though some truckers do tail gate. I was driving home on a late summers night from Rainham essex after a lengthy rolling road session in the Caterham. I hit the contra flow on the m25 near the m11 junction with the 50mph average cameras. I was sitting at 50 and an arctic decides to sit on my my bumper. In a Caterham a 42t scania looks massive. He stayed like that all the way to the end of the roadworks. Pretty shocking really considering he probably couldn't see me sitting that close behind.

Certainly looks like it. Driving without due care.

And foreign lorry.

i think it looks closer than it is because of its size. if that was a normal car you wouldn't think twice

I don't see any tailgating in that video. By deduction I see someone holding a camera out of the driver side window which doesn't seem a very intelligent thing to do.

Have you seen the YouTube clip from a truck dashcam of an idiot in a Golf driving one-handed while he was holding his phone out of the window?

I find that HGVs very often tailgate in 50mph limited sections of roadworks, maybe because they are so used to driving on the limiter all the time that they don't like backing off for anything? I just back off the speed slowly to get a big gap in front of me.
