GT3 Exhaust Upgrade

I'm looking to install a different exhaust system on my GT3 and am doing some browsing/research to see whether it's a DIY possibility for me.
A couple of questions:
If I choose to get help, where's the best place in Thames Valley/Sussex area?
Also, I notice a number of Mezger engine pictures show dark staining between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder block. E.g. To the left of the exhaust manifold bolts in this Turbo pic. Is this common and is there anything I should be looking out for when fiddling with the exhaust on my car?

I'd suggest Nine ExcellenceI had a 997.2 gt3 and I firstly fitted a genuine sharkwerks track pipe myself at home without having to remove the rear wheels or jack the car up. The only awkward bit was the screws up at the leading edge of the bumper on the wheel arch.
For the sharkwerks track pipe the cats stay on along with the manifolds but the rear silencers and the centre muffler are replaced with the sharkwerks unit. The pipe was really too loud for me and there was a slight drop in the lower rev range power so i took it off and sold it. The new owner loves it on his 997.1 gt3 rs.
I then bought the F1 Topspeed centre muffler delete pipe which retains the side silencers and uses the factory tips. This gave a really good sound and was very quiet in town when you wanted it to be. for the money its one of the best out there.
Tips>
All work was relatively easy to do at home with torx tools and a metric socket set. Expect to need a hacksaw and some heat to get the clamp bolts out but nothing serious. Try your best to reatin the half moon clamps as they are pricey. Make sure the tail pipes in whatever you choose to fit are dead centre to the cut out on the bumper before you fit it all back on or it looks awful and could damage the bumper.

"dark staining" is a factory applied under body protective wax sprayed on to protect the alloy casing/components from oxidising.
Thanks, also really helpful. It only seems to be around the cylinder/block gasket in the picture so assumed it was a minor oil leak (as against the rest of the engine that's a bit grubby and brown).Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
