CLS 63 AMG Makeover - Professional Detailing
Discussion
I've half thought about changing to a C63. My CLS is nearly 8 years old and has spent most of its life sitting outside. While it has given me no problems mechanically (a bulb did go once) and I still turn my head to look at it as I walk away, it had lost its deep shine and it was covered in those tiny scratches and swirl marks that make you wish you'd never chosen a black car. It was, I fear, starting to look old.
Instead of changing car, I thought I'd try a makeover, or more especially a professional polishing and detailing session, one using GTechnic products. The result is quite extraordinary, beyond what I dared hope for. The car looks better than anything I've seen in Mercedes Approved Used (I can't afford a new AMG). It also makes me realise that I have never cleaned and polished my car properly. So, forget the C63, or anything else for the next couple of years. The work has probably saved me £10+k. We'll see how it goes, maybe I need to have the GTechnic polish reapplied once a year.
I used Definitive Detail in Chelmsford. http://www.definitivedetail.co.uk/
Paul did the work. He really ought to be on that Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners TV programme such is his passion for the task. I had the full works done less the wheels (18" winter rims are going on shortly and the 19" need a refurbish) and the leather treatment (now that is something I can do properly myself).
I asked Paul to send me some images. He put the photos in a DropBox. If you want to see them, click on the link below:

Really pops
I had a black bmw detailed before selling it made a huge difference. Ive now brought my own DA polisher and will do my SLK55 in the new year, luckily got a garage big enough to do it indoors with a bit of a fanheater and radio for company!
You think your cls was 8 days old not 8 years. Great result

That does look fantastic. Mine is a silver 2008 and you can never get the same sort of finish as you do on a black car, but nevertheless I find a weekly wash keeps it looking great and with an annual detailing it looks good enough to turn heads when you are out. These cars are getting increasingly rare, last time I looked it was 125 still registered in the UK (source: Howmanyleft.com) So no more talk of getting a C63, look after and enjoy your rare CLS63 N/A.
