Saab 9-5 Aero estate

So I sold my clio 172 and decided to go for something at the other end of the scale. Doing 20 miles a day in the clio was beginning to annoy me. It had koni adjustables and although it handled great it wasn't very relaxing!
I've always fancied the big saabs. At 28 years of age I felt the time was right haha.
I'm in Leicester and I bought the car in Kent. Found out from the history that the car was purchased from Bond Street Saab which is in Leicester. Has full service history and plenty of receipts including the sump drop and cleanout plus the rear trailing arm bushes.
It drives great and is effortlessly quick. Obviously its not as nimble as my clio but it's not the kind of car you throw about.
Jobs on the list are to get it up to a guy who's a bit of a legend on the saab forums for a stage 1 remap and then tidy up the paintwork plus give the headlamps a freshen up. I also painted the grille black as i don't like the chrome and it was the only chrome bit on the car.
These cars are great if you want something which is off most peoples radar and lets just say I didn't pay much more than shed money. My favourite part are the heated seats and huge boot!

They certainly are. The only negative against the purchase value is fairly poor mpg. Im getting 24 ish in town but can get upto 34mpg on open roads.
Also the tax is high at £285 but you soon forget that when you put your foot down.
Plus it's already come in handy for transporting long bits of wood and carpet about! My daughter approves but that's only on the basis of the cup holders and she likes to go fast.

On autotrader. Finding one seems to be the hard part. Seems to be more saloons than estates. I wanted an estate as I think they look better. Mines a manual. I didn't want an auto as I don't feel I am quite at that stage of my life yet 
The prices seem to very quite a lot. Theres only 23 on autotrader at the moment and the cheapest manual is up at £2100.
Check out the various forums as they tend to be well looked after. Although I think they are generally looked after cars as the older generation tend to own them. (Which my friends are more than happy to remind me of!)

Currently on the lookout for a grey manual estate, did view one that the owner said has a few slight imperfections in the paintwork, once there it became quite apparent that our definitions of a few imperfections were quite a way apart,i and so the search continues, im looking to buy one as a second vehicle to carry the wife and two kids about in, pushbikes, general household items. the insurance as a second car on our policy is hardly anything, fuel consumption isnt going to be an issue as the mileage it will cover is low.
I challenge anyone to find better out there for circa £1k.

I've got one exactly the same pretty much. Love it to pieces, perhaps if the values are going up people are realising how much of a mega bargain these are at the moment! Can't go quicker or more comfortable for less!
Only think to really look out for is the PCV hoses, but even if they need replacing its pretty easy..

It's a very slippery slope when tuning these though. I went straight to stage 3 (downpipe, fuel pressure regulator and remap), then decided I needed better suspension, so got Koni FSD's, and I currently have a Kinugawa wastegate actuator and braided brake line kit waiting to go on as well. I also needed a new clutch after my stage 3 map as my old one was a bit knackered. I'm still debating whether to get a better intercooler as well....
....Anyway, have fun with it, they seem to be getting ever more popular at the moment

I paid £1300 but in 18 months have spent about 3 x that figure on bits n bobs l and fixing it. Broken down twice in it on mway
but to buy a new car as quick as aero saab you are spending 30k plus
On way home this eve i had a f10 m5 driver exclaiming in shock how quick and loud it is up to 60mph

Is yours tuned k321? It feels quick but not mega quick. My other car is a petrol 330ci and i would say thats quicker 0-60 as the saab cant put the power down as good as the bm.
Hopefully the remap will make a difference. Dont get me wrong, its quick, certainly in 3rd when it pulls through to 80.
To be honest the biggest thing I enjoy is the comfort. Setting the cruise at 65 and having the heated seat on listening to smooth. I like being an old man even at the grand old age of 28 haha.
