Where's Ringram when you need him...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chevrolet-Daytona-Protot...

Bet they're screaming a bit when they push that sort of power.

Just goes to show what a NA engine can do smokin

Strange setup.

They're claiming LS2, but LS2 never had a 3.9" bore, and despite the solid top valley cover, it does look like there is a slot for a cam sensor at the rear of the valley..ie LS1/6 block.

Despite it having the cam trigger on the front cover.

Not sure how cost effective they'd be by time you arranged a courier etc. But interesting all the same

Sad to see only two petrol heads on the forum. Days gone by engine threads would wake people up...tumbleweed

Saw the posts, read the advert, decided there was not a lot to say - apart from the fact that you are attracted to shiny things. wink

They're 525bhp - so around 400-420 at the wheels, which is where a few forum cars now, while still being emissions friendly.

They're also dry sumped, so you either convert them back to wet sump, or buy a load of extra gear for installation.

What did you want said?

If you want to speak with Ringram, he's on Facebook (though he does read here sometimes) and seems to be very preoccupied with his Maloo (understandably). Our last conversation was on a closed group, with him making claims about one specialist over another, on the basis of a picked before and after from each. It really wasn't much better than saying black is faster than red or white, on the basis that MyM8V8 has won the last couple of Thunder Roads, and I've lost. hehe

eta: Oh, and if you say anything slightly contentious or get slightly passionate about cars on here, you get your wrist slapped, like a naughty school kid used to. The lack of traffic is not the fault of the members.

Maybe you've made my point for me ARAF. Naturally aspirated engines that make over 100hp/litre aren't of interest to most forum users now. Most chat these days revolves around the more mundane, keeping the car on the road perspective, which is where many of the other forums have ended up.

Yes, my attraction to shiny things is well documented by the half finished projects littering my garage. I also like reading about other people's efforts, as there's always something new to learn. I'm guessing that the days of people spending £10-20K on a new build are over, given how much these cars are worth nowadays. Especially sad, as no other group of car enthusiasts are up for building insanely powerful street cars (other than maybe a few nutcases in the hot rod scene).

race engine used: that's an expensive coffee table.

these engines are made for intensive but short life with tight tolerances, and weak safety coefficient

Yeah sorry I was a bit short, last night.

As with all cars, the demographics change as the cars get older, and with a cars age comes the need for more, rather than less maintenance. Many of the big builders of old are still around here, but apart from you, they're not building, because their projects are finished, or their circumstances have changed.

Let's face it, the Monaro and even the VXR8 are throwbacks to a time that was unknown to the next generation of car owners, so new blood isn't going to take up the challenge, when they perceive that they can get the same power for half the money with a small engine running lots of boost.

There's a lot of big power cars out there, but many are front wheel or four wheel drive now. The Play Station generation don't want to try and tame an unwieldy chassis, because they've never experienced that in a game. wink

The lack of ability to have a difference of opinions is strangling this forum - as are those members who cry "foul" whenever their opinion is contrary to a few others, or "bullying" when their opinion is different to that of the majority.

Just found an low miles, fully dressed LS2 attached to a 4L80E for £3K scratchchin

And had to sit on my hands as a new 6/71 supercharger went for £200 on eBay weeping

(Having just sold my Eaton 122 that I never used, this was going to be a tough sell to the wife)

Perceive being the operative word wink

Looking at taking the Audi to GTI International next year to show them what a bigger engine can do. The show record for a VAG car over the quarter mile is low nine seconds...evil

I think it probably is. Shouldn't call it an LS2 if it's made of iron. Apparently, the 4L80E is bksed, so the whole thing is probably only worth £1800 tops (given there's a Hummer H2 LQ4 knocking about on eBay for that sort of money).

Maybe I'll advertise my LS2 stroker as an LS7...

they are of interest its just, and its offence entirely intended, the gearhead enthusiasts have long left. Now if you were talking what tyre to buy you would be gang raped in a corner with everyone tryin to force their answer down your throat.

Nearly all the cars now are sold/bought pre-tuned so someone can bang on down the pub their car makes 20brazillion arse power at the fly with little care or understanding on what was done - other than stick a blower on it make it go faster

I'm looking at options on mine to lift it to the 100bhp/ltr but to be honest its fast enough as it is

Come join the chat elsewhere, I'd love to pick yours and stevie's brains about cam choice for emissions vs power etc but fear if I did it here I might get banned for not asking an approved question
